Formation in our faith is a life-long process. At each stage of our lives we are confronted with new opportunities and new challenges. These opportunities and challenges cause us to seek new information, to ask new questions, or to seek new answers to old questions. For example, the knowledge, questions and answers that helped us get through our teenage years may not be enough when we face the adult challenges of marrying and establishing a family, or when we are facing challenges to our relationships.
Adult faith formation takes different forms. Small groups, such as the Women’s Bible Study group, or the Discuss the Homily group provide ways to connect with others who share our interests. Our own reading on spiritual and religious topics helps us to look at our faith from different angles. Formal classes provide information about different aspects of our faith.
The Discuss the Homily group continues year round. This informal group gathers at 9:45 AM on Sundays in the second floor of the Parish House (across the street from the Rectory and School.) You don’t have to pre-register – just show up and you will be welcomed! This group talks about the readings for that Sunday, and the ideas about them that are presented in the homily.
The Diocesan Institute of the Diocese of Harrisburg offers courses on many aspects of the faith which can be found at www.hbgdiocese.org.
